Welcome to our coverage of Match number 16 of the prestigious Indian T20 League where the spotlight falls on Delhi as they prepare to host Kolkata at the picturesque Vizag Stadium. Both teams are riding high on confidence after securing victories in their previous outings.

Delhi emerged victorious against Chennai at this very venue while Kolkata claimed a convincing win over Bengaluru. Delhi’s commanding 20-run victory over Chennai showcased their dominance in that game. The addition of Shaw as an opener alongside David Warner bolstered their batting lineup posing a formidable threat to opposition bowlers.

Warner continued his impressive form with another crucial half-century and remains undeterred and dangerous. Pant’s strategic promotion to number 3 paid off as he unleashed his aggressive batting style to score a blistering 51 runs. Pant’s solid form since his return and his adept captaincy further strengthened Delhi’s performance.

In the bowling department Khaleel Ahmed’s stellar performance stifled Chennai’s top order claiming crucial wickets while maintaining an economical spell backed by Mukesh Kumar’s effective contribution. Looking ahead the challenge for Anrich Nortje will be to contain opposition batters and minimize runs conceded.

Despite earlier defeats this convincing win against Chennai will surely boost Delhi’s morale and confidence going forward. Delhi would be expecting their all-rounders to step up a bit and contribute more responsibly. Kolkata continued their dominance by defeating Bengaluru once again on their home ground.

Bowling first Kolkata successfully restricted Bengaluru to a below 200 on what seemed to be a flat track. Harshit Rana impressed yet again claiming a couple of crucial wickets and maintaining his threat to opposition batters this season. Andre Russell has been instrumental delivering valuable contributions with both bat and ball.

However the high-profile addition of Mitchell Starc is yet to live up to expectations struggling to find his rhythm and going for plenty of runs in two games without picking up a wicket. Although Shaw fell just short of a fifty in his comeback game and showed a glimpse of why he is a force to be reckoned with.

Shreyas Iyer the captain of Kolkata wins the Toss and opts to bat first. He begins by saying that when he looked at the wicket it looked like a great surface to bat. Adds that it changed drastically in the last game and that’s the reason he chose to bat first. Adds that he had a great journey in Delhi and also says that it is a new journey for him in Kolkata.

Adds that the staff and the management have been supportive. He says every team gives different challenges and states that it is important to stay in the present and bring out the best in the field. He mentions that Narine’s role is to take on the bowlers from the get-go and he has done really well. Ends up saying he is looking forward to a good contest.

Delhi’s skipper Rishabh Pant says they would have batted first too as it might get a bit slow but isn’t too worried about it. Adds that he is happy to have performed well last time but wants to take it one game at a time. Mentions that the bowlers did really well in the Powerplay last time which they would want to replicate here as well.

Adds that they aren’t thinking about the fact they didn’t start with Prithvi Shaw and mentions that he got his opportunity when he was ready. Ends by saying that the support has been immense here and informs that Mukesh Kumar is out due to a niggle and Sumit Kumar replaces him.
